Visit from UESD Ghana strengthens Collaboration with IZNE

Besuch UESD Ghana April 2025

Monday 28 April 2025

As part of the INTERFACES project, a delegation from the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in Ghana recently visited the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE). Both institutions are jointly developing an e-certificate program on “Research and Innovation for Sustainable Land Management in Africa.” The main objective of the visit was to deepen the existing collaboration and explore new opportunities for future joint initiatives.

A special highlight of the program was a group visit to the SAFE-LAND exhibition, currently on display at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. The exhibition is a collaboration between the UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification), the G20 Land Initiative, and the Bundeskunsthalle. It offers an impressive insight into the diverse relationship between humans and land through five thematic sections: Land is Life, Cities, Rural Land, Natural Habitats, and Take Action.

The exhibition stands out through its powerful combination of scientific facts and artistic expression. While the hard data highlights the urgency for action, the aesthetic depictions of Earth’s landscapes touch visitors on an emotional level—an excellent example of education for sustainable development.

The SAFE-LAND exhibition left a lasting impression on all participants and further strengthened their shared motivation to actively engage in the pursuit of sustainable development.

This experience highlights the importance of the INTERFACES project and provides valuable inspiration for the ongoing and future collaboration between IZNE and UESD.
