Project: MyJong – Learning reimagined through play!
Thanks to a built-in editor, MyJong can be flexibly adapted to suit different learning objectives. You can upload your own content and images onto the game tiles and customise them. Whether in the classroom, for self-study or on the go: MyJong brings education into play.
Uses and target groups
- Use and Target Audiences
- Initial successful trials in schools
- Designed for use in educational institutions, but also for private use
- Particularly suitable as an educational game to play in between other activities, e.g. during lesson breaks or as an alternative to homework
Benefits for Teaching and Study
- Gamification as a motivational driver: learning content becomes more engaging and accessible through playful elements.
- Flexible range of topics: content can be adapted for a wide variety of subject areas and learning objectives.
- Practical and versatile: teachers and learners benefit from its easy integration into various educational contexts.
Technology & Further Development
MyJong was launched in 2024 and is currently in version 2.0, which is scheduled for release in 2026. As part of a student internship, version 2.0 beta was enhanced with numerous new features, including:
- Text input for game content
- Editor functions for game tiles and layouts in horizontal or vertical orientation
- Audio components
- Advanced scoring system
- Drop-down menus for selecting layouts and tilesets
- Zoom function
Furthermore, further developments are planned, such as support for more complex game mechanics (e.g. multiple assignments). In the long term, there are also plans to release the software as free software. However, this is currently still dependent on the clarification of the university’s internal framework conditions for software developed with student involvement.
The project was funded by the Hochschulgesellschaft Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
Project period: 2024–2025, continuing in 2026
Status: Runs on Windows, Linux and Android (version 2.0); still under development
Areas of application: Schools, higher education, self-study, leisure
Target audience: Learners of all ages, teachers and educational institutions
