Germany semester ticket: How to get it on your smartphone
How the digital Deutschlandsemesterticket works:
The digital Deutschlandsemesterticket is sent to H-BRS students by email to their university email address. From there, it can be transferred directly to the smartphone wallet app (Android or iOS). Stadtwerke Bonn is expected to start sending the email from 19/20 August 2025.
As soon as the ticket has been entered in the Stadtwerke Bonn system - this happens around two to three times a week via a message from the university - the student will automatically receive an email with a link to a personal barcode.
It is important to open the link in a browser on the smartphone. The ticket can be transferred to the Wallet app via a button on the page. This step is only necessary once.
After the successful linking, the ticket is automatically extended - until exmatriculation.
The advantages of the mobile phone ticket:
- No registration required
- Convenience: Ticket always to hand on your smartphone
- Fast access: Quick and easy activation of the ticket
- Security: No more losing or forgetting the physical ticket
- Sustainability: support environmentally conscious behaviour
- The ticket automatically updates itself every month in the Wallet app
- Nextbike: linking is also possible with the HandyTicket. To do this, use the customer number that is visible on the ticket.
Two mobile phones: The ticket can be linked to several mobile phones in the Wallet. To do this, simply open the email received on the other mobile phone and link the ticket again. If necessary, the link can be forwarded to the private e-mail address, for example. This only works because the tickets are not transferable and cannot be passed on to third parties.
What happens if the battery runs out or you forget your smartphone?

What to do if there are problems with the upload?
First of all, the feedback status should be checked on Apollo. Students on the Bachelor Sustainable Social Policy, Bachelor Social Insurance and Master Social Protection degree programmes should use the student information system SIS.
If no re-registration is noted for the winter semester 2025/26, you should check whether there is a re-registration block. The missed re-registration must be made up in order to receive the ticket. If you are unsure, please contact Student Services for further assistance.
Students who have re-registered for the winter semester 2025/26 should regularly check their university email inbox and also look for the email from Stadtwerke Bonn in their spam folder.
