The Departmental Council

Tasks of the Departmental Council

The Departmental Council is the highest decision-making body of the Department of Management Sciences and is responsible for all matters relating to the department, unless other responsibilities are expressly specified.

In order to fulfil its tasks, the Departmental Council can elect, appoint and/or commission committees, representatives, commissions, working groups and task forces. It is responsible for all matters of fundamental importance to the faculty. This includes, among other things, issuing examination regulations, determining the structure plan, coordinating research projects and making decisions on appointment proposals from the appointment committees.

The meetings of the Departmental Council are generally open to the public. An exception is made for agenda items relating to personnel decisions.

Composition of the Departmental Council

Members of all four status groups of the university are represented on the Departmental Council: Professors, academic staff, technical and administrative staff and students.
The term of office of the Departmental Council is two years; the student representatives on the Departmental Council are elected for one year at a time. The Chair of the Departmental Council is elected from the group of department members.
The Departmental Council consists of 8 members of the professorial group, 3 students, 2 academic members, 2 non-academic members and, as non-voting members, the Dean and Vice-Dean.
