H-BRS: Personnel changes in the Office of the President
In today’s meeting of the university election assembly of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg on 20 July 2017, Dr Michaela Schuhmann was voted out of the office of Chancellor. Schuhmann had been Chancellor of the University since December 2013 after previously holding various positions in the City of Nuremberg. Until further notice, the Chancellor’s role will be filled by her deputy Barbara Schubert.
The background to the deselection is an increasing difference of opinion between the chancellor and the remaining members of the university board on management issues, especially in terms of administration. The step had previously been carefully checked and approved by the Ministry of Science for the state of NRW. According to the NRW Higher Education Act (HG), the university election assembly meets to select and deselect members of the Office of the President. It is manned by the members of the University Council and the Senate of H-BRS.
