Curriculum vitae

Christian Tode is Professor of Economics at the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Sankt Augustin since September 2019.

He studied energy systems engineering at the TU Clausthal. During his subsequent work in the research department of an energy company, he developed an increasing interest in economic issues. He received his doctorate in economics from the University of Cologne and the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne (EWI). Parallel to his doctorate, Christian Tode worked at the EWI in consulting and applied research projects for European energy companies, start-ups and political institutions. After his doctorate he became a Manager at EWI and was responsible for a team of researchers and consultants. In order to prepare himself for the intended professorship at a university of applied sciences, he returned to the University of Cologne for one year as a postdoc and worked at the intersection of economics and information systems. At the same time he was a lecturer at the H-BRS.

Christian Tode gained international experience through two longer stays in Japan. For example, from 2010 until the Tohoku earthquake in March 2011, he was in Tokyo with the DAAD's "Language and Practice" program, where he learned the Japanese language and studied Japanese culture and business.
