Advice and support on preventive fire protection
The fire safety officer advises and supports the employer in all matters relating to fire protection.
Fire protection is understood to mean all measures that prevent the development of a fire and the spread of fire and smoke (fire spread) and enable the rescue of people and animals and effective extinguishing work in the event of a fire.
The most important tasks include:
- Supporting the employer in discussions with the fire protection authorities and fire brigades, accident insurance companies, etc.
- Advise on equipping workplaces with fire extinguishing equipment and selecting extinguishing agents
- Educate and further training of employees in the use of fire extinguishing equipment and of employees with special tasks in the event of a fire (fire safety assistants)
- opinion on investment decisions, relating to fire safety issues at the site
- Regular fire safety inspections and evacuation drills
