Support services for our target group
The Start-up-Manufaktur supports H-BRS students, alumni and employees in realising their business ideas. No matter whether you are still studying and have an exciting business idea that you would like to realise, belong to our alumni and would now like to start your own business, or you are employed at the H-BRS and have come up with an idea in your daily work that you would like to pursue as a start-up on the side - the Start-up-Manufaktur provides all-round support and advice to all members of the university for start-up projects. Start-up consultation and further support
Individual consultation
In our no-obligation start-up consultation, we answer your individual questions on the topic of founding a company, taking over a company or becoming self-employed. It doesn’t matter whether your idea is still just an abstract concept or you have already progressed further in thinking about how to realise your dream: our start-up scouts Alida and Christoph would love to find out what you have in mind.
Simply fill out the registration form and we will contact you to arrange an appointment. Our consultation services are aimed at start-up teams as well as individuals.
We support you in the following areas, for example:

The Speedback appointments take place weekly on alternating days.
Help with legal questions
When setting up a business, many founders stumble over legal issues, questions about contracts or taxes. In cooperation with our partners, we can offer you support here:
- Thanks to our cooperation with two law firms, we can issue consultation vouchers for specific legal concerns. The allocation is decided individually after a preliminary discussion within the framework of our start-up consultation. If you are interested, please contact our consultation team.
- To get a first overview of general legal issues, we can offer you extended access to the Legal Academy within the framework of our partnership with RAKETENSTART. In addition, you can use the contract generator for quick contract creation.
Advice on financing options
If financial questions are your main concern, we will be happy to help you find the right financing mix for your start-up. Our start-up dictionary provides an initial overview of financing options for start-ups.
The following funding programmes may be of particular interest to you: the EXIST start-up grant from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the NRW start-up grant from the Ministry of Economics, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy of the state of NRW. The EXIST Transfer of Research programme primarily funds research-based projects.
Events, couses and trainings
Events
We regularly organise various events for you on the topic of start-ups: In addition to information events, informal networking events also await you - perfect for connecting with like-minded people from the university. You can look forward to exciting start-up stories or informative events on the topics of financing or team building. Those who like to exchange ideas regularly in a relaxed atmosphere are more than welcome to attend our monthly Gründungsstammtisch (regulars' table).
Our events are aimed at students, alumni and employees alike. In addition, the Start-up-Manufaktur sometimes also offers workshops explicitly for PhD candidates. These workshops help to look at one's own research topic from a founder's perspective.
Courses
For H-BRS students, we offer courses in which you can acquire the necessary skills for your start-up: In our interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Curriculum, you will learn the most important entrepreneurial skills, and you can also receive credits for the courses. Our courses are generally open to students from all departments.
MBA Start-up Development
Interested in further education in the form of an MBA? Take a look at our MBA Start-up Development programme, where you can not only acquire entrepreneurial skills, but also apply them directly to your own start-up project. The high proportion of online teaching offers a high degree of flexibility in individual study planning, which also makes it possible to study while working.
