Virtual Mobility for All - ViMoAll

Less than 10% of the students at H-BRS take advantage of the opportunities to gain international experience abroad, despite numerous offers. 90% of our students do not go abroad, due to either financial or health related reasons or family commitments. The importance of intercultural skills in the labor market, however, is growing.

Digital and collaborative teaching in association with partners in higher education and practice abroad ("virtual mobility") allows for the inclusion of all students, with the aim of practicing strategies to overcome international challenges and to create equal opportunities. However, there is a lack of suitable framework conditions, concepts and didactics to adopt inclusive virtual mobility as an integral part of the curriculum. The synchronous mixture of face-to-face and online teaching (“hybrid teaching”), although particularly suitable, has hardly been tested.

This is where the Virtual Mobility for All (ViMoAll) project comes in.

Projekt Virtual Mobility for All

ViMoAll internationale Kooperationen

Project duration: Sep 2022 - Aug 2023

Project funding: Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre, programme "Freiraum 2022"

The ViMoAll project supports teaching staff with the formulation of concepts and the implementation of digital collaborative courses, it documents the ‘lessons learned’ and makes them accessible in the centers for didactics of the H-BRS, e-learning, IT and International Office as well as on the NRW-wide platform ORCA.NRW.

Based on initial experiences with the implementation of selected pilot projects in the academic year of 2022/23, numerous departments, disciplines and teaching methods are involved in this process. All pilot projects aim at opening up new perspectives on sustainability and diversity for students by offering virtual mobility. Enabling individual physical mobility enriches the overall virtual experience. Partner universities are already involved in the planning of all pilot projects.

Freiraum 2022

Within the framework of the "Freiraum" call for proposals, ideas for teaching can be developed and tested. There is no thematic or technical focus. All projects that convince with their innovation potential are welcome. "Freiraum" is a recurring programme. This means that the project selection committee selects projects at regular intervals.
