What is discrimination? The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), also known colloquially as the Anti-Discrimination Act, is a German federal law that aims to prevent or eliminate discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual identity.

This means:

All people should be treated equally. Everyone should have the same rights, know their rights and be better able to defend themselves against discrimination.

Every complaint is also an opportunity for improvement!

As a neutral facility, the central anti-discrimination office will initially accept your complaint. Here you have the opportunity to talk confidentially about what has happened to you and how you feel. You can submit an informal complaint and receive initial information about possible solutions in a timely manner.

The next step is to decide on how to proceed and determine effective measures and the necessary consequences - with your consent, of course. Further committees may then need to be involved.

The central anti-discrimination complaints management is supervised by Dr Peter Hesse (Administrative Unit Human Resources). Based on the complaints, improvement measures and, if necessary, consequences are introduced in order to prevent discrimination and create respectful and fair dealings with one another.

Your complaint will of course be treated with absolute confidentiality and discretion at all times!
