Save, Backup, and Archive

Researchers are repeatedly confronted with the problem of where to put their research data. First, save it on the hard disk, but what comes next?

Storing, backup and archiving are terms that are often mistakenly used for the same process. First of all, however, you should be aware of what exactly is the intention behind the data storage carried out: short-term or long-term preservation? Maybe there are certain requirements that have to be met and certain formats have to be used?

It is worth thinking about the fate of the data at an early stage and having a concept for how to handle it.

Here you can find information about the different possibilities.
