Project SKILLS
Future skills training in your Faculty
What are the Future Skills training courses?
Future Skills trainings help students to organise their studies successfully and to approach their everyday life efficiently and healthily. Both Bachelor's and Master's students benefit from the training sessions. Each training session lasts around 7 hours. They are therefore all-day training sessions.
What topics do we offer?
Digital balance: Students learn how to navigate the digital space consciously and competently in times of hybrid lecture formats.
Self-management: Developed self-management skills help students to successfully master the demands of the semester and structure their tasks in a meaningful way.
Resilience: Resilience, or "mental resilience", is what your students need to face the new and often stressful demands of university life calmly and thus master everyday life.
Emotional strength: Emotional strength helps students to cope with challenges such as stress, setbacks and academic pressure and to organise their day-to-day studies in a positive way.
How have the Future Skills training courses been implemented so far?
In the International Business programme, the Future Skills training courses were carried out as part of a supplementary subject. To enable the course to be credited, the participants wrote a short report afterwards.
In the Sustainable Social Policy degree programme, the future skills training courses were a component of the pre-course week in winter semester 23/24. A total of six training sessions were offered, which were available to both first-semester and higher-semester students.
In the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Technical Journalism, the training sessions were offered virtually as part of the Project Week 2022. A total of 160 students took part in one training course each.
The Future Skills training courses can be customised and flexibly integrated into a wide variety of concepts. Come to us with your idea.
What are the first steps in offering Future Skills training in your degree programme?
As a first step, you should consider the framework and time frame in which the training sessions can take place. Especially before and during exam periods, you should refrain from training sessions. We also need sufficient lead time to coordinate the dates with the trainers.
Contact us and plan with us how we can organise the training courses for you.
What should you provide?
For the implementation we need your support in communicating with the students. In addition, we need a seminar room for up to 20 people per training session.
What do we provide?
We are happy to provide you with supporting communication material in the run-up to the training sessions. We also coordinate the training sessions and trainers and provide the training materials.
Who are the training courses for?
The training courses are designed for both Bachelor's and Master's students from all subject areas. However, first-year students in particular benefit from the programme.
Who are the trainers?
The training courses are run by students from all subject areas. They have completed a two-stage training programme and carry out the training courses designed by the SKILLS team independently. The trainers are provided with guidelines to guide them through the training programme.
Where do the training courses take place?
In order to make access as easy as possible for students, the training courses take place on your premises at the university. On-site delivery encourages critical engagement with the content, creates a more interactive atmosphere and enables exciting, active types of exercises.
