Project SKILLS
Trainer Programme
Empowered with the skills for tomorrow’s world of work
The Future SKILLS training courses help you to successfully organise your studies and efficiently tackle everyday life while staying healthy. You do not have to be a professional in the topic in advance in order to carry out a meaningful and active training in one of the topics. All you need is an interest in working with other students to develop creative solutions to common problems. Each training lasts approximately 7 hours. The training includes 3 dates.
The Trainer Program
„I'm taking away a whole host of practical methods and ultimately skills from the training. I would now like to pass these on to others.”
Marco Ettelt - Master's student Social Protection & trainer for the Future Skills trainings
Our SKILLS trainers talk about their experiences!
The training as a trainer is practical and offers plenty of scope to apply and try out the content directly.
You conduct a training course with your fellow students yourself - true to the motto "by students for students"
Information about the Trainer Program
You can become a trainer in these topics:
- Self-management: In this training, we support students in setting and pursuing self-motivating goals. Setting goals, tackling challenges, successfully mastering everyday tasks - these skills are at the core of the self-management training.
- Digital Balance: This is about working with participants to develop ways to use media more consciously or to not use it at times. The Digital Balance training creates an awareness of media consumption, safety in everyday digital life and helps to find a healthy digital balance.
- Resilience: Here we work on finding ways to learn how to deal with stress in a healthy way together with other students, as well as learning techniques to reduce everyday stress.
The aim of the resilience training is to minimise stress and strain in everyday life through strong mental resilience and to be able to switch off from study and work mentally.
- Emotional strength: In this training, we work with the participants to develop effective strategies to promote emotional strength and positively shape everyday study life. Emotional strength training offers the opportunity to better understand your own emotions, manage feelings with helpful strategies and communicate empathetically with others.

You can choose your favourite SKILLS training topic. We also try to take your wishes into account as much as possible when allocating the trainer teams.
How much time does it take?
The Trainer Program takes place over a total of three days in presence.
The basic training lasts 2 days, the Future Skills training one day.
Between the blocks, you should expect to spend about 4 hours working through the training manual and the video instructions.
After the training, you will conduct your 7-hour Future Skills training independently in teams of 2. To do this, you must prepare the room and hand over the materials to the SKILLS project team once the training is complete. The project team will support you with the planning and answer your questions.
Who takes part in the training courses?
Students from all departments and semesters at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences can take part in the training sessions. Normally, around 12-14 students take part in each training session.

You will receive a certificate for completing your Trainer Program and the associated training sessions.
Can I do the Future SKILLS training courses on my own?
In principle, the Future SKILLS training courses are intended to be conducted by 2 trainers. If you have completed at least one training session in a team of two and feel confident, you can also do the training on your own.
Who can take part in the Trainer Program?
All Master's and Bachelor's students from the 3rd semester onwards can take part in the training programme. The programme is aimed at students from all subject areas.
How many Future SKILLS topics / areas of expertise can I train for?
As a trainer, you must be trained in at least one of the Future SKILLS competence areas. You can also choose more than one area of expertise if you wish.
Do I create my own training content?
You do not have to create any training content yourself, but will receive a training manual for your chosen Future SKILLS competence. This training manual is prepared by the SKILLS project team and summarises the process and content of the training step-by-step. The training manual serves as a guide and orientation. Of course, you can integrate your own exercises by arrangement.
I would like to do just the training without becoming a trainer afterwards. Is that possible?
No. Participation in the training programme requires that you complete at least one Future SKILLS training course for the SKILLS project.
Can I get credit points for the sustainability certificate after completing the training?
Credit points for the sustainability certificate (Study Responsibility) can be recognised if you have a corresponding specialisation. The specialisation includes, for example, an internship / written reflection on the topic of socio-ecological transformation (Transformation Coach).
