Your idea counts.

In the Start-up Cup 2025, we are looking for tomorrow's solutions to today's problems - whether it's a product, service or platform: the key thing is that you have recognised a problem and want to change something about it. The most convincing ideas have the chance to win prize money of up to €2,500. New this year: the special Impact prize for ideas with a social or ecological focus. The application phase for the Start-up Cup 2025 starts on 10 June and runs until 18 August! The competition is aimed at all students, alumni and employees of H-BRS - with and without start-up experience.

New in 2025: the special impact prize

This year, for the first time, we are awarding a special prize for ideas with a social or ecological impact. Does your concept focus on social innovation, sustainability or the common good? Then you also have the chance to qualify for the cross-university impact pitch competition and compete against teams from other universities. There you will meet other committed teams and pitch in front of investors and an expert audience.

Participation and procedure

You submit your idea in the form of a pitch deck with a maximum of 14 slides.

You can add up to 150 words of notes to each slide - using the PowerPoint notes function or directly in the PDF. These serve to provide the jury with additional information that would normally be mentioned in an oral presentation.

💡 Submission in English is also possible.

All submissions will be evaluated by an internal jury of the Start-up-Manufaktur. The five best teams will be invited to the final on 9 October 2025, where they will pitch their idea in front of an audience and an external jury made up of experts and evaluated on the basis of predefined evaluation criteria. The three best teams will receive cash prizes. The Special Prices Impact and DIGITALHUB are awarded separately from the pitch competition at the final. There is also an audience award.

Contents of the pitch deck

You should address the following aspects in your pitch deck. Depending on the stage of development of your idea, it may not yet be possible to describe the individual points in detail. Nevertheless, try to be as specific as possible (without exaggerating).

  • Problem: What challenge are customers and users currently facing?
  • Solution: How can the challenge be overcome?
  • Presentation of product/service: What is being sold? What is the customer benefit?
  • Target group: Who is the target group and what characterises it?
  • Market and competition: What does the market for the product/service look like? Who are the competitors? What barriers to entry are there?
  • USP: Why is the idea unique? What is your biggest advantage over your competitors?
  • Business model and financing: How and from when will revenue be generated? What is the ratio between costs and sales? When will the project be profitable?
  • Marketing and sales: What is the pricing model? Which communication measures should be used? How will the product be brought to the customer group?
  • Team: Who is part of the team and what skills and experience does the team have?
  • Sustainability: How is the topic of sustainability and social impact taken into account in the business model? What sustainability goals are being pursued (e.g. circular economy, inclusion, CO2 reduction, access to education, etc.)?
  • Milestones and outlook: What is the current status and what are the next steps? What goals should be achieved in the short and medium term?
  • Contact details: Name, e-mail address, telephone number
