Cyber Security & Privacy (MSc)

At the same time, digitalisation brings new kinds of risks: cyber attacks, fake news, leaks of large amounts of personal data and the digital division of society. That is why we need solutions and experts for cyber security & privacy for successful and responsible digitalisation. You want to take responsibility? You want to help shape the future? Then the Master's programme Cyber Security & Privacy at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is the right choice for you!
The programme is currently in the accreditation process and can start in the winter semester of 2023/2024.
Course contents
In the Master's programme Cyber Security & Privacy (MCSP) at the Department of Computer Science, the fundamentals from the Bachelor's programme Cyber & Security (BCSP) are deepened. For this purpose, a wide range of specialist topics and elective subjects in Cyber Security & Privacy are offered. Together with a team of professors from the Hochsschule Bonn-Rhein Sieg,University of Applied Sciences, experts from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the Fraunhofer Institute FKIE, practical content is taught.
With the help of the specialisation modules, you can expand your specialist knowledge and tailor your studies to your individual needs.

The Cyber Security & Privacy degree programme is supplemented by currently offered elective courses from the Department of Computer Science - and, as part of Cyber Campus NRW, also from the Cyber Security Management degree programme at Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. Thus, students can also set a focus in IT security management in their studies.
Qualifications
A professional university degree with a grade of 3.0 or better in a subject in which the computer science component amounted to at least 120 ECTS credits, as well as sufficient competences regarding concepts, methods and tools of computer science.
Basic knowledge of IT security and privacy topics - as can be acquired in the Bachelor's degree programme Cyber Security & Privacy - is recommended.
Aims and objectives
You will learn about development and research issues relating to security and privacy in a digitalised world and how to work on these independently and develop suitable solution concepts.
The Master's programme at the H-BRS is characterised by individual supervision, guidance to independent scientific work and interdisciplinary cooperation in research and development projects.
After successful completion of the programme, the internationally recognised academic degree Master of Science is awarded. This degree entitles the holder to a doctorate. The degree prepares students for specialist and management positions in industry, business, administration, research and development.

Through the Institute for Cyber Security & Privacy (ICSP) at the Department of Computer Science, current topics are exchanged with international experts. Research projects work on the further development of proposed solutions to improve security, which is why qualified employees are in demand in these areas.
