Virtual and augmented reality as well as data-driven visualisation methods are becoming increasingly important for industrial applications. Visualisation technologies and artificial intelligence are making a decisive contribution to digital transformation, especially in SMEs. The areas of application range from the interactive analysis of large amounts of data with high-resolution display systems to the simulation and monitoring of complex data streams in real time.

Research-based infrastructure for exchange and collaboration

As part of the Campus to World project, a showroom was set up in rooms H005 and H007 at the Sankt Augustin Campus to serve as an innovation platform for companies, researchers and students. Originally designed with a focus on visual computing, the showroom was later expanded to include artificial intelligence (AI).

The showroom offers space for workshops, demonstrations and collaborative discussions. Companies gain practical access to current research topics, technologies and application scenarios from the fields of visualisation, AI, AR/VR, image processing, data analysis and more.

Transfer of scientific findings into practice

A central goal of the showroom is the systematic knowledge transfer into entrepreneurial and social contexts. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular are given access to research content and technologies through workshops, demonstrations and cooperation formats. Specific issues are addressed together with scientific partners and further developed in the form of prototype solutions. The continuous dialogue between science and practice forms the basis for application-oriented innovation processes.

Innovation spaces for applied research

The infrastructure developed in the showroom supports the testing of new technologies and processes under realistic conditions. The focus is on approaches that are tailored to the needs of industrial partners and aim to achieve sustainability in technological development. Through project-related collaboration, digital tools and processes can be designed in an application-orientated way and improved iteratively. This results in solutions that contribute to the innovative capacity of companies in the long term.
