The first Writing Retreat powered by the Writing Centre
From 19 to 21 July 15 German and international students spent 3 intensive days working on their Bachelor / Master thesis or R&D report – either in German or in English - and were guided and supported by Gabriele Menne-El-Sawy and Jill Yates.

Stem cell research: H-BRS again welcomes RISE scholarship holder
Professor Edda Tobiasch and her research team have once again welcomed a RISE scholar to their lab. Yanran Sun is in her third semester studying medical science and technology in the UK. She is now gaining her first practical experience in this research field in Professor Tobiasch's lab.

Review of FrOSCon 2023
The 18th FrOSCon took place on the campus of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS), University of Applied Sciences, on 5 and 6 August 2023 and was a great success despite the partly very wet weather. After last year, due to the Corona pandemic, only about 750 participants could be counted, this year about 1,300 visitors took part in the conference.

New cooperation with the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA
The Department of Management Sciences of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg concluded a new partnership with the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the United States of America. The cooperation agreement allows bachelor and master students from all departments of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg to study in the following programmes by paying tuition-fees: “International Diploma Program” and “University Immersion Program”.

Melanie Ludwig defends her thesis successfully
On July 10th 2023, Melanie Ludwig defended her doctoral thesis at the University of Mainz. Her research project "Performance modelling based on submaximal outdoor training" investigates how a person's fitness during endurance sports can be modelled, i.e. recreated and also predicted, on the computer using only his or her heart rate. This normally requires complex tests that are difficult to implement in recreational sports. The results are intended to support health-promoting training in the optimal stress range.

Hydrogen: H-BRS researches pipeline networks of the future
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg is at the forefront of research into future hydrogen grids. Professor Tanja Clees and her team are simulating in detail the behaviour of important plants in hydrogen grids and their coupling with electricity grids in the "MechaMod" project.
