The university-wide project Digital Internationalization of the Faculties, or "DIF" for short, aims to further expand and consolidate digital English-language courses and projects for the period after the pandemic.

A large part of the student body at the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences does not take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad as part of their own studies for various reasons. The DIF project aims to create a comprehensive offer for so-called virtual mobilities, which should enable all students to gain international experience.

For the implementation of virtual mobility, the Department of Business and Economics can rely on an active network of international partnerships. By mutually offering digital courses with the option to open them to students at partner universities, we expand the range of international exchange.

The contents of the project include a support offer for teachers in the implementation of digital English-language courses as well as networking with international partner universities to expand digital exchange programs.

Support for lecturers in the implementation of digital English-taught courses

As part of the DIF project, you as a teacher can receive support in implementing your digital English-taught courses.

The support can include the following services, for example:

  • Preparation and follow-up of digital English-taught courses
  • Advice and support for teachers in the use of digital tools (for synchronous and asynchronous delivery of content)
  • Preparation of English-language presentations
  • Preparation of digital inputs and surveys (e.g., Mentimeter, Articulate Rise)
  • Supervision of LEA courses
  • Advising students on the use of digital tools

If you are interested, please feel free to schedule an individual consultation appointment.

Virtual "Codeshare Teaching and Learning" Summer School

A core element of digital internationalization in the department of Management Sciences is the "Codeshare Teaching and Learning" project originally initiated by Prof. Dr. Ralf Meyer.

As part of the project, a virtual international summer school is held annually. Within the framework of a three- to four-week program, students can attend various one-week intensive courses taught by international lecturers.

In the Summer School 2022, 11 courses related to Management Sciences were offered. Students of the department can have the courses recognized as Elective courses.

Current information about the project and the Summer School can be found at the link.

Digital International General Studies

With its digital courses, the Digital International General Studies, or "DISG" for short, offers the opportunity to attend interdisciplinary courses from different disciplines and thus further develop international and intercultural skills.

In addition to courses offered by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, courses are also offered by international partner universities.

An overview of the current course offerings in the DISG program can be found here:

BAIN - Becoming an International Negotiator

The project promotes global engagement in a digital learning environment and offers a total of 43 marketing students from Ghana, Kenya and Germany the opportunity to acquire international negotiation skills. Students from the Marketing M.Sc. program at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) will negotiate online with students from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana and the University of Nairobi (UoN) in Kenya to enter the African market. Regina C. Brautlacht (H-BRS), who teaches the Negotiation module, initiated this virtual collaboration project with her colleagues from Africa. Dr. Gloria Agyapong (UCC) and Dr. Joseph Owino (UoN) teach Marketing in their respective countries.

ProGlobe - Promoting the Global Exchange of Ideas on Sustainable Goals, Practices and Cultural Diversity

ProGlobe is an interdisciplinary and intercultural project for students from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) in Germany, Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (IPV) in Portugal, Fanshawe College (FC) in Canada, and Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in the USA.

The virtual exchange offers students the opportunity to collaborate virtually with other students from Europe and North America, share knowledge and ideas, and promote global diversity. The goal is to improve awareness of the impact of environmental and social issues in all participating countries and thus globally. Students evaluate, discuss and reflect on their own sustainable actions and exchange ideas with each other on relevant global issues. The project aims for students to collaborate internationally and in this way understand global issues from different cultural perspectives.
