Course structure
Students on the seven-semester Bachelor of International Business (BSc) programme at the Sankt Augustin campus of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg acquire comprehensive knowledge of business, management and international markets. Five theory semesters, a practical semester or semester abroad and the Bachelor's thesis form the basis. From the 4th semester onwards, students choose specialisations such as International Financial Management, Marketing or Sustainability and hone their intercultural, analytical and entrepreneurial skills for an international career.
Prospects and job opportunities
Graduates of the degree programme work internationally in logistics, human resources, consulting, controlling, management, finance, business informatics and marketing. Specialists in international management are in demand globally - career and salary prospects are correspondingly promising. Building on the Bachelor's degree programme, the university offers further Master's degree programmes in Marketing, Controlling and IT Management.
Practical relevance and teaching formats
The Bachelor's degree programme combines academic theory with practical experience. Lecturers from academia and practice as well as case studies from real companies ensure direct practical relevance. Innovative learning formats such as business simulation games, peer-to-peer learning and flipped classroom formats promote an active and application-orientated learning culture. An integrated internship semester, a focus on intercultural and language skills as well as international study options - including a double degree - provide optimal preparation for a global career.
Study location and learning environment
Studying International Business at H-BRS: at the Sankt Augustin campus, students can expect a modern, international learning environment with innovative technology, practical teaching and a strong sense of community. Welcome events and activities organised by the student council promote exchange between students. The campus is conveniently located between Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf and offers attractive accommodation options in Sankt Augustin or Bonn - ideal for an English-language degree programme with a global perspective
Student Lisa reports on her positive experiences during her studies and emphasises the strong international focus of the programme. She appreciates the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at a partner university, which enabled her to build a global network and make valuable friendships with fellow international students. She appreciates the hands-on approach of the programme, which helped her secure a position in a local company to gain direct insights into a large company and develop valuable skills for her future career.
Graduate Sophie shares her experience during her study abroad programme. She decided to spend a semester at the University of New Brunswick in Canada, where she immersed herself in the country's culture, enjoyed the stunning landscapes and socialised with locals. Sophie emphasises how this international experience contributed significantly to her academic and personal development and maturity by providing the opportunity to explore a different education system and participate in enriching seminars.
„The International Business programme has been an enriching experience for me so far. The diverse mix of professors, students and partner universities enriches my learning journey with unique perspectives and hands-on projects. The programme allows me to deepen my interests and specialise professionally. I particularly appreciate the opportunity to learn new languages, discover cultures and develop my skills abroad or in internships. It prepares me perfectly for my future career.”
