Ph.inally D.one! Die H-BRS gratuliert ihren frisch Promovierten
Sechs Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler haben im Jahr 2024 ihre Promotion an der H-BRS abgeschlossen. Am 6. Mai gratulierten Hochschulpräsidentin Marion Halfmann, Johannes Steinhaus, Vizepräsident Forschung und Transfer, sowie das Team des Graduierteninstituts fünf von ihnen persönlich zu diesem Erfolg.

Jungstudierende des Rhein-Sieg-Gymnasiums erfolgreich im Informatik-Studium
Bereits während ihrer Schulzeit in die Welt der Hochschulbildung eintauchen: Für sechs Schülerinnen und Schüler des Rhein-Sieg-Gymnasiums (RSG) wurde das im Wintersemester 2024/2025 zur Realität. Als sogenannte Jungstudierende besuchten sie die Vorlesung „Einführung in die Programmierung“ (EidP) im Fachbereich Informatik bei Dozent André Kless.

Alumnibesuch bei Siegwerk (Rückblick)
Ein Gruppe von Alumni und Deutschlandstipendiaten besuchte am 29. April das Siegburger Traditionsunternehmen Siegwerk, einen der größten Druckfarbenhersteller weltweit. Die Gruppe erhielt einen sehr guten Einblick in die Schritte, die das Unternehmen hin zu einer zirkulären Verpackungsindustrie macht sowie in die hauseigene Analytik. Auch das Vorgehen von Siegwerk bei Forschungs- und Entwicklung stieß auf großes Interesse. - Im Siegburger Brauhaus klang der Abend schließlich aus.

Expansion of the IZNE Board: Professor Marco Jung is a new member
Prof. Dr Marco Jung has been researching and teaching at the Department of Engineering and Communication at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) since 2019 and specialises in the field of power electronics. His research focuses on the development of innovative power converter solutions for connecting renewable energies, electric vehicles, electrolysers and battery storage solutions to the power grid and their impact on the energy system.

Es ist ein Ort zum Durchatmen, Verweilen und Auftanken: Der neu gestaltete Innenhof am C-Gebäude auf dem Campus Sankt Augustin ist ab jetzt geöffnet. Bei schönem Wetter steht der Innenhof täglich von Sonnenaufgang bis Sonnenuntergang zur Verfügung.

Prof Dr Javad Ghofrani takes over as head of the A2S Institute
On 1 March 2025, Prof. Dr Teena Hassan took up the post of Vice President for International Affairs and Digitalisation at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. In this context, she handed over the management of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems (A2S). The new head of the institute is Prof. Dr Javad Ghofrani, who was only appointed to the Department of Computer Science in March 2025 as Professor of Computer Science with a focus on Autonomous Systems in the international Master's degree programme Autonomous Systems.

Der Fachbereich Informatik stellt das Anmeldeverfahren für die Master-Abschlussarbeiten in den Studiengängen Master Informatik (MI) sowie Master Cyber Security & Privacy (MCSP) um. Ab dem 1. Mai 2025 erfolgt die Anmeldung zur Abschlussarbeit vollständig digital über das ISS-Portal.

Visit from UESD Ghana strengthens Collaboration with IZNE
As part of the INTERFACES project, a delegation from the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in Ghana recently visited the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE). Both institutions are jointly developing an e-certificate program on “Research and Innovation for Sustainable Land Management in Africa.” The main objective of the visit was to deepen the existing collaboration and explore new opportunities for future joint initiatives.
