Information for First Semester Students (B.A. Sustainable Social Policy)

Welcome to the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and the Department of Social Policy and Social Security! We are very pleased to welcome you to the Sustainable Social Policy degree programme. 

To make it easier for you to start your studies, we will start with an introduction day on Tuesday, 26.09.2023, from 10:00 a.m. in lecture hall 3 on the main campus. Please make sure that you do not have any other appointments on this day.

Participation in the introduction day is extremely helpful for a successful start to your studies and is therefore highly recommended. You will receive important information about the organisation of your studies, course selection in the winter semester and introductions to using the library, IT, etc.. We will also show you the locations where you have courses and the campus. You will find the exact programme for the introduction day on this page at the beginning of September.

The university's central first-semester welcome ceremony will take place on Monday, 25.09.2023, at the campus in Sankt Augustin.

Introduction to the LEA learning platform

In the week before the introduction day, you will receive a digital introduction to the LEA learning platform on Friday, 22.09.2023, from 10:00 a.m. The LEA will be a constant companion during your studies.

English Placement Test and Mathematics Self-Assessment Test

An English placement test will take place between 18.09.2023 and 27.09.2023. Participation in the English test is compulsory. It is not a test that is relevant to your certificate, but rather a test to determine your competencies for the admission requirements and planning of the subject-specific English courses in the 2nd semester. You will receive information about the placement test via your university e-mail address. You will receive the access data for this from the Registrar's Office with your enrolment.

In addition, you can also take a voluntary mathematics self-assessment test during this period.

Start of courses and course registration for the winter semester

The courses start on Monday, 09.10.2023.

The timetable for the 1st semester will probably also be available on this page at the beginning of September. Course registration for the winter semester will take place online via LEA on Friday, 29.09.2023, from 10:00 am. There will also be an online question and answer session afterwards. 

Skills Week

Between 04.10.2023 and 07.10.2023 you have the opportunity to take part in our Skills Week. During Skills Week, we offer you a colourful mix of soft skills and orientation courses as well as events on interesting topics and exchange and networking opportunities across all years. We will inform you about the options and exact dates of the events during the introduction days.
