Games
In order to achieve sustained success in these fields, it is imperative to consolidate and preserve core competencies at the national level, thereby ensuring that the development of technological innovations is not left solely to major corporations in the United States and other European countries. This endeavor requires both robust educational initiatives and cutting-edge research in key areas of visual computing. Technologies such as computer graphics, human-computer interaction, and computer vision constitute the foundational elements of many digital games and gaming platforms.
H-BRS presents a diverse portfolio of initiatives and research activities in visual computing, spanning multiple departments and reflecting a high level of commitment and interdisciplinary collaboration among students and academic staff alike.
We offer our students:
- Courses in game development in our Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes since 2006, including our recently established Master's degree programme Game Technologies (M.Sc.)
- Lecture series on game technologies with international speakers (game.impulse) from industry and research
- Regular game events (Zock'n Friday), Game Jams and workshops in the field of game design and technology, in cooperation with other universities in NRW
- Own state-of-the-art Game Studio
- Open Games Day, a regular showcase for student projects
- Games Technology Network, a network of NRW universities to bundle research and teaching
