Games

Games are an integral part of the strategic research and educational focus at H-BRS. The games industry represents a major driver of innovation for the digital economy in North Rhine-Westphalia, with a large and steadily growing market and significant potential for diverse employment opportunities in both the IT and creative sectors. The industry is not only a catalyst for innovation but is itself highly innovation-driven, as emerging technologies frequently become industry standards within just a few years.

In order to achieve sustained success in these fields, it is imperative to consolidate and preserve core competencies at the national level, thereby ensuring that the development of technological innovations is not left solely to major corporations in the United States and other European countries. This endeavor requires both robust educational initiatives and cutting-edge research in key areas of visual computing. Technologies such as computer graphics, human-computer interaction, and computer vision constitute the foundational elements of many digital games and gaming platforms.

H-BRS presents a diverse portfolio of initiatives and research activities in visual computing, spanning multiple departments and reflecting a high level of commitment and interdisciplinary collaboration among students and academic staff alike.
