We promote early career scientists.

The GI is a central coordination unit for doctoral students. Therefore, our members are not only professors who supervise current doctoral projects, but first and foremost the doctoral students themselves. We offer professional and interdisciplinary qualification, networking, financial support and advice. In addition, the Graduate Institute sees itself as a link to the Doctoral College NRW, the network for early-career academics at universities of applied sciences (HAW) in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The way to your PhD: Steps, Documents, Regulations

At the beginning of a doctoral project there is a lot of planning and organisation:
After you have found a topic and a supervisor, you decide whether you want to become a member of the Graduate Institute and/or the Doctoral College NRW. For doctoral students who do not work at the H-BRS at the same time, a user agreement can be useful. You can also enrol as a doctoral student at the H-BRS and take advantage of the benefits of student status such as discounted use of the refectory and the semester ticket.
