Administrative Unit 2: Personnel

What we offer our employees

Since our foundation, we have been working to ensure that employees can do more than just do their job with us. Those who join us enjoy a wide range of attractive benefits and offers.

Mobile working

The university offers its employees mobile working of up to 50 per cent of their contractually agreed total working hours, depending on their activities and opportunities, within the framework of the work organisation rules

Secure salary

Your salary is regulated in salary groups - as are salary increases. Employees regularly move up the experience levels and receive more money.

The remuneration of employees covered by collective agreements is governed by the collective agreement for employees in the public service of the federal states (TV-L); in the case of civil servants, it is largely regulated by law (North Rhine-Westphalia State Remuneration Act (LBesG NRW), State Civil Servants' Pension Act, NRW Higher Education Act, Higher Education Performance Pay Ordinance).

The current level of remuneration can be found in the corresponding table.

Supplementary pension insurance

For tariff employees and non-civil servants, additional pension insurance is set up with the Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL) after a specified waiting period.

For more information, please contact the Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL)

Onboarding

In a six-month programme, we offer newcomers the opportunity to get to know many facets of H-BRS so that they can get off to a good start. In addition to a regular familiarisation with their own work, this also includes getting to know individual institutions and departments and a wealth of information about cross-university collaboration.

Further information can be found on the Human Resources Development page.

Family-friendly university

Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is increasingly committed to reconciling work and family life. Already successfully certified six times, it has been able to implement a variety of measures and projects since 2007 in order to create better support services for family-friendly study and working conditions at the university.

The H-BRS offers support for the compatibility of family and career, among other things.

Diversity and inclusion

H-BRS is a diversity-friendly university that ensures a positive learning, working and living experience for university members - regardless of their origin, gender, age, physical abilities, educational background, sexual orientation, religion, world view and other factors. Equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion are of great importance to us. That's why we offer a variety of programmes here.

H-BRS is one of the universities in Germany that provides all students and employees with a Space of Silence. The Room of Silence can be used by anyone of any ideology or religion for contemplation and peace. Due to its neutrality, this room is suitable for all those seeking silence as well as for prayers of all faiths, meditation, etc.

Our Respect! Viva Diversity activities serve to learn more about each other and engage in dialogue. Students and employees can take part in the Respekt! Viva Diversity programme, students and employees can share a diversity facet of their personality with others. In the past, digital exchange formats have included "3 questions for... trans* people", "3 questions for... a Muslim woman".

For our employees, we provide a digital toolbox for inclusive teaching and interaction (via the H-BRS online platform LEA) as well as a handout and information portal on digital accessibility is available.

Our university is a place where racism, misogyny or queer hostility, the marginalisation of people with disabilities or chronic illnesses and any other form of discrimination have no place. This is why anti-discrimination work is very relevant to us and we offer various contact points that people can turn to if they experience discrimination.

The appreciation, acceptance and understanding of different personalities and cooperation are very important to H-BRS. That's why H-BRS has numerous other programmes on offer. You can find a detailed overview on the diversity map and on our inclusion website.

Culture & Entertainment

  • The International Office regularly organises excursions to cultural highlights for all members of the university - even beyond the region.
  • The H-BRS has a university choir. We are happy to welcome every new singer
  • Library: We are proud of our library. It offers all members of the university a wide selection of specialist literature, fiction, films and audio plays, as well as many educational and entertaining ones. In the series "Guest on the Sofa" well-known authors of all stripes read from their works and then discuss them with the audience. In the  "Rhein-Sieg Onleihe" digital books, magazines or audio books can be borrowed free of charge.

Modern university - excellent location

H-BRS was founded in 1995, making it one of the youngest universities in NRW. This is also reflected in the buildings and infrastructure. Additional buildings have been added several times, and the next expansion is already being planned. More information can be found in the history of the university

With its location in Sankt Augustin, the university offers very good transport connections via the ICE train station in Siegburg and a wide range of housing options at acceptable prices in the immediate vicinity.
