Bachelor Programmes

Electrical Engineering (BEng)

The study programme in Electrical Engineering provides students with broad expertise in automation and information technology and also fully equips them for a career as an electrical engineer. The studies are very practice-oriented and also deal with issues of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Electrical Engineering – Cooperative Study (BEng)

The cooperative study programme in Electrical Engineering is a combination of a degree programme in electrical engineering and an apprenticeship. After a four-and-a-half-year period of study, students acquire a vocational qualification and a university degree. The programme consists of practical semesters and study semesters.

Mechanical Engineering (BEng)

The study programme in Mechanical Engineering provides students with broad expertise in all areas relating to mechanical engineering and fully equips them for a career as a mechanical engineer. Mechanical Engineering - Cooperative Study (BEng)

The cooperative degree programme in Mechanical Engineering is a combination of a university programme in mechanical engineering and a company apprenticeship. After a four-and-a-half-year period of study, students acquire a vocational qualification and a university degree. The programme consists of practical semesters and study semesters.

Sustainable Engineering (BEng)

Today the society needs engineers who are excellent professionals but who also think about sustainability to assess the ecological, economical and social consequences of their work. That's what the bachelor programme Sustainable Engineering prepares you for. The study combines elements of electrical and mechanical engineering with various aspects of sustainability and puts its emphasis on renewable energy, power efficiency and environmental technology.
Graduates of the degree program are qualified for many industries. Occupations in the work environment of energy production and distribution as well as activities in industrial companies, planning offices and energy consulting are available. In addition, there are jobs in product development and product management in the manufacturing industry, as well as in public services, public authorities and municipalities in the work environment of energy and mobility.

Technical Journalism/PR (BSc)

The study programme in Technical Journalism/PR combines training in journalism and public relations with expertise in the basics of engineering or environmental engineering. The programme provides students with the skills needed to effectively communicate on complex technological issues.

Visual Technical Communication (BSc)

Visual formats are ideal for the presentation of technology. Both designing technology on a screen and conveying technology with animation and film is state of the art today. High-tec videos also appeal to viewers emotionally with captivating stories.

The degree programme Visual Technical Communication takes up these current developments. It’s the first programme of its kind in Germany. It is aimed at anyone who primarily wants to work with visual formats in technical journalism and in technical communication.

Master Programmes

Electrical Engineering (MEng)

The Master programme Electrical Engineering provides a deeper insight into various fields of electrical engineering and emphasis the aspect electronical system development. Students are also required to work independently on a current research topic.

In cooperation with the Universidad Nacional de San Luis (Argentinia) you can study a binational program and a obtain a double master degree.

International Media Studies (MA)

The bilingual Master’s programme in International Media Studies, which is offered in conjunction with the University of Bonn and the Deutsche Welle broadcasting station, integrates issues relating to media and development cooperation, on the one hand, with media management and communications science, on the other. Above and beyond this, the programme includes journalism and practical media-based projects.

Mechanical Engineering (MEng)

The Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering deals with the interaction between mechanical, electronic and IT-disciplines. The studies provide students with in-depth insights into the discipline of mechatronics or virtual product development (VPO). Students are also required to work independently on a current research topic.

Technology and Innovation Communications (MSc)

The Master’s programme in Technology and Innovation Communications deals with the question of how to communicate technical and other innovations more effectively. In doing so, it also provides students with in-depth insights into social aspects and issues relating to the assessment of technical outcomes.
