The exchange program

Students can take part in an exchange with the international Life Science program at HAN either for one or for two semester. During semester 5 students take the 30 ECTS course Molecular pathogenesis; the sixth semester is dedicated entirely to the practical training. Most students do their practical training at research laboratories in the Netherlands, e.g. in Nijmegen or Amsterdam. However, it is also possible to come back to Germany for the practical training as long as you remained enrolled at HAN.

The degree

Bachelor in Life Science for a successful stay of two semesters.

University facts

HAN strives to be one of the top universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. With campuses in both Arnhem and Nijmegen, in the east of the Netherlands, HAN has over 30,000 students. Just like our university, HAN also has only recently been established, hence all buildings, laboratories and facilities are very well equipped and up-to-date. Our students enroll in the international Life Science program on the Nijmegen campus.

The training methods at HAN differ in several aspects from what you are used to: Training is problem- and competence-based with much emphasis not only on practical training but also on the development of personal, social and organizational skills.

Things to consider

  • Teaching is in English.
  • HAN has agreed to accept 10 exchange students from our Biology program.
  • There are tuition fees for students enrolling in the double degree program.
  • ERASMUS+-funding is available for a one semester stay, yet not for a two-semester stay. Students aiming at the double degree can apply for a PROMOS-funding instead.
