Energy - equipment

On this page we present a brief overview of the plant and equipment that enables us to conduct research in the research fields of energy efficiency, renewable energies, and efficient mobility.

Within the research field of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies the main topics are optimization and modeling of renewable energy systems of:

  • Energy meteorological photovoltaic forecasts (see Energy Meteorological laboratory)
  • Energy cycles (natural gas, hydrogen, water/heat and electricity)
  • Storage of electrical energy from renewable sources

The field of efficient mobility works on efficient transport alternatives, from developing new ways of flow-measurements to models of the implementation of charging infrastructure to the acceptance of e-bikes as part of sustainable individual mobility.

In the following we present a brief overview of the plant and equipment that enables us to conduct research in this area:

  • Powder Fabrication-Lab with SLM (Selective Laser Melting) system
  • Mobility-Lab
  • Hydrogen-Lab with the investigation of storage possibilities of hydrogen
  • Simulation Lab as support for the practical laboratories by new multiscale simulation methods or optimization algorithms

Velomobiles (three-wheeled special bikes with streamlined fairings):

  • Go-One Evo-K velomobile
  • Alleweder-4 E-Velomobile

Other equipment:

  •  Cyclus-2 bicycle ergometer (simple ergometer for student projects E-bike experimental platform for freely programmable motor control).
  •  Wind tunnel for streamline shape analysis
  •  Several drones with cameras to analyze the streamline shape during free riding
