Programme content
Our bachelor’s degree programme in Sustainable Social Policy (BA) tackles the entire range of social policy issues in the Federal Republic of Germany. Poverty and wealth, education opportunities, social injustice, social system, pensions, health insurance, participation in decision-making, elections and intergenerational contracts are subjects covered by the curriculum on the basis of the latest scientific findings. Students also study topics from the social sciences, media and communications science, national economics and legal studies. During the seven-semester course of study, they learn how to develop solution recommendations for the challenges faced by society and democracy both internationally and in Germany, on the basis of scientific analysis.
At the H-BRS, we regard sustainable social policy as being social policy that is effective in the long term, not only financially, but also above all sustainably for people and society. In order to reinforce the interdisciplinary access to socio-political issues, we offer research and teaching in cooperation with the Institute for Political Science and Sociology at the University of Bonn and the Chair for Social Policy and Methods of Qualitative Research and the Seminar for Cooperative Systems at the University of Cologne.
