  • apply their knowledge in neurobiology to explain simple pathophysiological observations

  • Structure and function of neurons
  • Investigating neurons: Electrophysiology
  • Neurobiology of Vision: From photons to neuronal networks
  • Neurobiology of Vision: From spots to stripes and complex objects
  • Neurobiology of Vision: Colour vision, 3D vision and detection of moving objects
  • Biological clocks
  • Mechanical senses
  • Chemical Senses
  • Learning and memory
  • Student presentation on current research literature in neurobiology

 

Internship

Learning outcomes

Students are able to

  • obtain, analyse, report and interpret data from neurobiological experiments
  • understand and interpret current research literature

Content

  • Electrophysiological techniques: Current Clamp & Voltage Clamp
  • Recording of ion channel activity with the Two-Electrode Voltage-Clamp technique

Recommendations: Basic knowledge in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology/biophysics from a former BSc (or other basic) curriculum

 

 

Module examination with marks

Written exam: 70 %
Lab report: 30 %
