During the exercises, the concepts acquired during the lecture are
applied to concrete practical examples to enhance the students'
understanding of the principles involved.

Praktikum

In small groups (as a rule, 2 students per experiment set-up), the
students conduct a range of experiments in the various subject
areas of the module. (The types of experiments can vary within the
framework of the study programme reforms.) The experiments,
taken from the subject areas of oscillation and waves (including
the parameters to describe waves), optics, wave optics and
electricity, are aimed at practising quantitative exprimental work,
including statistical analyses and error calculation (random versus
systematic errors, error propagation, linear regression).
In addition, the students widen the expertise acquired during the
lecture and the tutorial by applying it to practical examples.

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen

For the participation in lectures or exercises: there are no entry requirements;
for the participation in practical class: successful attendance to the General Safety Instruction (part of the introduction weeks) and to the Special Instruction before the practical class is necessary.

Prüfungsmodalitäten

Module examination - graded
The examination covers the various parts of the module.

Successful participation in the laboratory exercises is a prerequisite for passing the module examination.
